The Johor Strategic Innovation Institute (IISJ) was launched on March 23rd, 2016 by the Chief Minister of Johor, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin with the aim of improving Johor state economy through local high-tech researched innovation via a Quadruple Helix synergy amongst the Institute of Higher Learnings Institutions, the Industry, the community and the Government.

 

The Chief Minister stressed that the proactive initiative through IISJ establishment was expected to copy the success of Silicon Valley by empowering existing innovation ecosystems to become more sustainable through high-tech innovations produced by local researchers.

 

This initiative was to engage in new knowledge and technology discoveries in order to be a solution to the problems and challenges at the community level in line with the objective of setting up IISJ aimed at enhancing the reputation of the state of Johor through the empowerment of the global Innovation and Economy Power House. Through the implementation of “Low Hanging Fruit” projects under the establishment of IISJ, innovations based on scientific and technological research will be more inclusive, sustainable and impactful.
