Fund
The main objective is to provide seed money for researchers to initiate a collaborative network between the community and industry.
Objectives
- As seed money for researchers to initiate industrial networks.
- As funding for Faculties, Schools, Institutes, and Centers of Excellence to organize programs supporting the enhancement and strengthening of industrial networks.
- As incentives and encouragement for researchers to initiate networks and collaborations with industry to carry out impactful and commercially viable Research, Commercialization, and Professional Service Contracts.
- As a platform to assist researchers at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in obtaining external grants from industries or agencies requiring University contributions to successfully implement Research, Commercialization, and Professional Service Contracts with industry.
Conditions
- The applicant must consist of university staff (open to academic staff and PPP staff).
- Applications must be supported by the Faculty/PTJ director/department head.
Application requirements
- The sponsored program should be synergistic, involving expertise and participation from various Centers of Responsibility (PTJ) within UTM.
- The proposed programs or activities should involve collaboration with industrial partners and may include participation from government departments/agencies or the community.
- Eligible types of programs to be considered include:
- Research product showcase
- Workshop
- Roundtable discussion
Duration
The program duration should not exceed 2 days.
Amount
- The allowed amount for each application to organize a Program shall not exceed RM5,000.
- Expenses are only allowed for the following items:
- Vote 21000 Travel and Transportation Expenses include all domestic travel and transportation related to the project. Travel and transportation for the purpose of attending conferences and related events (other than those organized by the secretariat) within the country and abroad are NOT allowed.
- Vote 29000 Specialized Services This vote covers other services including printing, hospitality, honorariums, computer usage, data processing, and other services related to the program.
- However, the final approved amount is subject to the Community and Industry Network Center (CCIN).
Output
- Complete information about the networks established with Industry, Government Departments/Agencies, or the Community must be reported within the “UTM Industry Engagement System” (ICESys).
- MOUs/MOAs/Satellite Laboratories/Contract Grants are established for the continuity and sustainability of the networks formed.
Application Process
- Applications must be submitted to CCIN by completing the Proposal Form and sending an email to ccin_industry@utm.my.
- The status of the application will be notified by the CCIN team.
