KUALA LUMPUR, 9 October 2016 – University of Technology, Malaysia keeps on getting recognition and acknowledgement from local communities and recently, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) has invited UTM to become a partner in a community program LA21 KL. The program is based on the project of clean and beautiful city in the execution of River of Life (ROL) Phase 2 at Sungai Bunus.
UTM will be signing Perjanjian Persefahaman with DBKL in 2017 and later become share partners of this brilliant project. Centre for Community, and Industry Network (CCIN) is given responsibility to manage and supervise any collaborative projects that are related to researching, river water treatment, and educating local community to appreciate rivers. DBKL believes that with the sharing of Sungai Bunus in LA21 KL planning with government sectors, NGOs, private agencies and resident association; the objective to lessen the pollution at flood retention pond in Kampung Boyan and Sungai Bunus will be achieved.
There were 100 fruit trees have been planted by students from Kelab Duta Rimba Kuala Lumpur. There was also opening of bicycle track during the launching which took place at Taman Rekreasi Sungai Bunus.
This recreational park is part of the project that is worth RM 230 millions which involved expansion and cleaning Sungai Bunus and also decorating the landscape of the river’s area.
